Merry Farmer writes with an attitude of compassion and generosity. Even the villain of this story gets a kind resolution when he deserves incarceration. The premises of this series involve failed morality followed by second d chances in the raw and isolated West of the 1890s. Good people, from bad situations can turn their lives around and find happiness in beautiful, but harsh, Montana.This story begins with the contrast between English high society morés and Western standards. An abandoned young woman of the gentility believes the wrong man's promises and is rescued from a life of depravity by our Western hero. Believing herself to be beyond redemption she fights their mutual attraction. The plot twists and the characters developed in surprising ways. And the town of Cold Springs, Montana enfolds them with acceptance.
I look for sympathetic and complex heroines in believable situations. I enjoy imperfect heroes who try hard. And I require interesting story lines. I also reject supernatural solutions as the easy way out of a plot. This series exceeds my expectations.

I don't understand the good reviews on this book. The male character is both illiterate AND bad at reading people. He also is of the "no means yes" and "I know better than her what she needs" mentality. He actually tells her to smile after he gives her a compliment because she apparently wasn't gracious enough. Combine that with his derogatory use of "mick" and I couldn't even stomach finishing it.
Irritating how many times the heroine repeated why she wasn't worthy of love. Very annoying in fact. Book was ok. I finished it to read the obvious predictable ending with no real surprises. Like the others in this series this one was just a bit repetitive.
This was a good story. Had me going till the end. I really thought Eric was going to be an idiot. I never thought of a mine. Very well written story
Very good story. A little different from most westerns, this story takes our hero to England suppositly to learn more about cattle,but being a tender hearted guy,he brings a pregnant bride home with him instead. It's funny and sad and you can't help but love him as the h does. I give it 5 stars cause I do love Merry Farmer stories. Can't wait for the next one in this series
Enjoyed the book.
How a poor rancher goes to another country to find buyer's for his cattle. He doesn't find a buyer but he finds a damsel in distress and brings her back to America. As they fall in love but afraid to face the true it seems a lot of things get in the way. But where he's not good at business she see' s opportunities and helps him land a good deal. By the time he gets home his cousin has stood his cattle as well as trying to take everything he has worked so hard to improve.
Well they find love or will everything get in the way.
I have read Merry Farmer 's, "The Brides of Paradise Ranch, and Hot on the Trail" also the first two books of "Montana Romance". I have loved every book, Merry Farmer has taken her stories and given the reader a chance to go back to the Old West. From her writing I felt like I was a part of the of the stories. Her stories are awesome and poignant and I would recommend reading her books. They will take your breath away!
I really enjoyed reading this book about Eric and Amelia. They met in one country and moved to another. In America, Montana to be exact, is where true feelings emerge between the two. The love connection Eric felt for Amelia was so deep and enthralling too me that I wished I was her. It took her a long time to find her self worth but with his insistence of how wonderful and beautiful. She was, she came to grips with a love of herself and Eric. She discovered true love!
